Nickel 20 Supplier

At Arbor Metals TM TM TM, we’re a nickel alloy supplier with a long history of delivering exactly what our clients need for each application. Nickel alloy 20 is a specialized material that provides exceptional resistance to sulfuric acid. It excels in manufacturing environments.

Nickel Alloy 20 Chemical Composition

Nickel 20 is an austenitic alloy of nickel, chromium, and iron. Sometimes, this nickel alloy is also known as grade 20 stainless steel or simply alloy 20.

Nickel alloy 20 consists of 32% to 38% nickel, 19% to 21% chromium, 3% to 4% copper, and 2% to 3% molybdenum. Niobium and tantalum help stabilize the alloy, and there are trace amounts of manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon for enhanced corrosion resistance.

Iron levels are balanced with the rest of the materials. This adds strength and resistance to corrosion, carburization, and high-temperature stresses

High-Performance Nickel 20 Products

As a trusted nickel alloy supplier, we carry a large range of nickel 20 forms, sizes, and specifications. Many manufacturing industries use flat products, such as nickel 20 plates, sheets, coils, and oscillate coils. We also supply pipe, fittings, and flanges markets with products such as nickel alloy 20 cylinders, rings, and circles.

Our processing capabilities allow for significant customization:

  • CNC water jet cutting
  • Shearing
  • Welding
  • High-definition plasma cutting

In addition to producing circles and rings to precise specifications, our CNC equipment can produce custom forms for enhanced performance.

Nickel 20 Properties and Advantages

While not as resistant to extreme temperatures as other superalloys, nickel 20 stands out for its tremendous resistance to acids.

Corrosion Resistance

This nickel-iron-chromium alloy offers excellent corrosion resistance in caustic chemical environments, especially against chlorides and sulfuric, nitric, and phosphoric acids. It resists pitting, general corrosion, and crevice corrosion.

Temperature Stability

Alloy 20 performs well at room temperature and above, up to 930 degrees Fahrenheit. It can withstand boiling sulfuric acid solutions and sour gases.

Stress Resistance

At room temperature, alloy 20 has a tensile strength of 620 MPa (89,900 psi). When annealed, this product offers excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

Common Applications for Alloy 20

This alloy is used almost exclusively in manufacturing applications, such as:

  • Mixing tanks
  • Pumps and valves
  • Process piping and fittings
  • Processing equipment
  • Heat exchangers

Industries that handle caustic chemicals benefit from alloy 20, such as plastics production, organic solvents, food and beverage processing, pharmaceuticals, and synthetic fiber operations. Petrochemical and oil and gas refineries also use alloy 20 for specialized applications.
